An Ecological Rebellion

Extinction Rebellion Ireland is part of an international movement that uses non-violent civil disobedience to achieve radical change in order to minimise the risk of human extinction and ecological collapse.

At the core of Extinction Rebellion’s philosophy is nonviolent civil disobedience. We promote civil disobedience and rebellion because we think it is necessary- we are asking people to find their courage and to collectively do what is necessary to bring about change.

We organise in small local affinity groups (We have local groups in Dublin, Cork, Clare, Galway, Kildare, Limerick, Derry, Leitrim, Wexford, Dingle, West Cork and Northern Ireland) and we also have a national steering committee, elected at a national meeting in November, to help coordinate nation-wide actions, trainings and talks. We are working to build a movement that is participatory, decentralised, and inclusive.

Our members come from a range of political parties, NGOs and the public who share a progressive vision for urgent action on climate and biodiversity loss in Ireland and around the world.

All are welcome who want to adhere to our principles and values which are listed on the Our Values page.
These enable us to attract the many people we need to bring about the change we need in safe, inclusive and respectful way.

Let’s get to it!
Love & rage,
Extinction Rebellion Ireland
